Foodie-mas

Merry Christmas, everyone!

So I opened up my presents and got some fabulous surprises this year. A lot of them are food related (You guys know me so well!). Quite possibly the best present I got this year, and certainly the most extravagant. came jointly from my sister and my mom. A Kitchenaid Stand mixer! YES! I finally have one!

I also got a couple of cookbooks, which are a pretty safe present to give me. My brother got me my first Joy Of Cooking. I've wanted one for quite a while now and I finally got one. It's really quite a comprehensive book and is a must for all cooks. My friend Joe got me a copy of Jacques Pepin's Fast Food My Way. It looks like an interesting read and a nice reference for quick dinners and fast meals.

A pic for everyone:

Elf

So I was cruising the internet and came upon this site sponsored by Office Max. It's called Elf Yourself. It a website where you can upload a pic of yourself and, using the software on their site, place your likeness on an elf body and watch the "elven you" dance. It's sounds kind of lame but it had me cracking up so I thought you all should check it out.

So click the Elf Yourself link to create one yourself or just click here to watch Elf Sherman dance.

PS: I know I've emailed this link out to most of my friends but I'm going to post about it anyway

beer

So, I just got one of the coolest presents from my best friend whom I've known since 5th grade, Tim (today just happens to be his birthday as well). He lives out in Connecticut with his fiancee, Bessie. Apparently he's been doing some homebrewing out in CT and decided to send me out some of samples. I got a total of 9 bottles in 6 different varieties. Ranging from a light pilsner to a robust chocolate stout. He even made labels for his brews and has started to make his beers aunder the "Angry Monkey Brewing Company" label. I've always liked Tim's determination to learn something when he's motivated to do so. I can't say I have the same drive he has to learn something new and push through with it. I 've watched him these many years work for what he wants and get lots of return on his "investements." I'd be lucky to say I have half of his determination. So this year I'll raise a toast to Tim and Angry Monkey and enjoy some of the fruits of his labor. Thanks, Tim, not just for the gifts and the beer, but for the friendship these many years and for always being there when I need you.

Here's to good friends! *raises glass* and, by the way, Happy Birthday!
